First of all, let me start by presenting the team behind this blog. I, Lydia Hughes, am the voice of this site since I will be writing all the articles you read. But I would like to thank all the wonderful people who helped me create it and make this initiative available for a large number of people not only in Scotland or Europe, but also around the world. They volunteered without giving it a second thought and worked day and night for the good cause. I will respect their wish to remain anonymous but I want to stress how enormously grateful I am.
Our mission is to promote peacebuilding and transform the way governments and people in Europe deal with conflicts. This is an essential topic especially nowadays, when refugees from Syria and other countries in the Middle East flood Europe. We need to come up with a new approach to deal with this post-conflict problem and provide a long-term solution for sustainable peace. This can only happen if we all understand that we should by all means prevent violence, aggression and xenophobia in this newly -created situation.
I am convinced that this can happen only if the ordinary people understand the importance of keeping the peace in Europe stable and that change comes from the bottom up. That’s why I will do everything in my power to educate, organize and inform every citizen of the old continent. In my peace-awareness campaign I am going to tell you what choices you have and how you can take initiative both online and offline to forward peace legislation and really make a change. I am sure that all of my readers will play an important role in changing the attitude of the western society towards the refugees. Together we are strong!
